Former England Cricket Captain, Mike Gatting, visited Telford last Friday to hear about the ground breaking Telford Sports, Learning and Enterprise Community, TSLEC.
Cricket is one of the nine sports involved in the new set up, which also incorporates four key sites: Wrekin College, Telford College of Arts & Technology, Hadley Learning Community & AFC Telford United.
Gatting also wanted to explore proposals to enhance facilities for Shropshire cricket at the Wrekin College site.
Peter Mitchell, Secretary for the Shropshire Cricket Board, who made the initial contact with Mike Gatting, said: “This is an exciting time for cricket in Shropshire. We already have a successful development centre here in Telford but with the TSLEC project coming on board; it can only go from strength to strength.”
