Two bikers from Telford will be racing their way to charity this month to raise money for local primary schools.
Tony Robinson (left) from Randlay and Scott Jones from Woodside will be taking part in the world’s fastest wheelie competition where they will compete against bikers from all over Europe to raise money for Randlay Primary School in Randlay and John Fletcher Primary School in Madeley.
Last year the pair raised £1,538 for a special baby care unit for the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where Mr Robinson’s daughter spent three months after she was born weighing 2lbs.
The competition involves the pair travelling on the back wheel of their motorbikes over a 1km stretch.
This year’s race will take place at Elvington airfield in York on August 9 and 10.
Mr Robinson who with Scott Jones is part of the Lost Boys biker group in Telford thanked everyone who donated money to the charity last year. He said: “I love taking part in the races and hopefully we’ll raise a fair amount for the schools.”
The pair have distributed hundreds of posters and collection boxes in pubs and shops across Telford. The team are seeking donations from the public and are selling tee-shirts to raise further funds.
