After a short recess The Telford & District Landlords Invitation Pool League cued off their new season with a preliminary cup tie.
WWF Club C travelled to Haygate, Wellington, going down 4-0 with wins from A & S Williams/D Finch/P Ellis. B Kilfoyle and Cheryl Rowley replied for the club 2-4.
A further win from S Williams ensured The Haygate of a place in the next round winning 5-2.
Minnasota Fats took on Rose & Crown, Ketley, whose A Loviett put them ahead 1-0. The Fats team promptly took the lead 3-1 thanks to S Moreton/G Burrows/N Braznell.
The Rose levelled matters three all with wins from A Loviett and J Sanders. The hosts then fought back to a 5-3 win courtesy of S Moreton and G Burrows.
Anstice A had no problems in their home game over WWF Club S as they cruised into a 5-1 win through the cuing of N Wallcroft/I Duffy/A Elliott (2)/S Camp. B Guest was the sole winner for the club.
Woolpack, Shawbirch, took a short trip to Park Inn, Wellington, where P Dix gave them a 1-0 advantage before P Skeffington made it all square one all for The Park lads.
G Parry put The Pack back on track 2-1. Again The Park levelled 2-2, this time through S Kitt. A further win from P Dix put The Pack back in contention 3-2.
The Park then regained control of the match cuing their way to a 5-3 win courtesy of D Currier/P Skeffington/S Kitt.
It was a local derby at The WWF Club as the D side played hosts to the club team. D Worrall and T Anslow put the hosts 2-0 up.
N Hitch then replied for the visitors 1-2. The hosts went further ahead 4-1 with wins from J Anslow and team mate C Price.
The visitors were in no way deterred as they fought back to draw 4-4 through C Nolan/N Hitch/M Honeywell. It was now crunch time as a play-off took place.
Coming up trumps was young T Anslow for the D side giving his team a 5-4 victory.

INVITATION POOL LEAGUE
P Baker drew first blood for Elephant & Castle P, St Georges, home to their A side who promptly equalised with a win from C Jones 1-1.
J Mottershaw regained the P side lead 2-1. A Hill replied for the A side 2-2. The P side then forged ahead to a 5-2 lead through the cuing of J P Baker/P Baker/J Mottershaw.
A further win from A Hill pegged back a frame for the visitors 3-5. It was then left to B Burden to produce the match winning frame for the hosts 6-3. Final frame went to C Jones for the A side 4-6.
Mallard cruised into a 3-0 lead away to hosts DCSS Club with wins from D Weaver/W & P Brindley. The Club responded through K Singfield 1-3.
The Mallard replied in kind with a win from G Fallon 4-1. The club got their second wind as they raced into a 6-4 win through M Studholme/C Challenor/R Ball/K Singfield/B Copeland.
WWF Club A went down 1-0 at home to visiting Pheasant, Wellington, thanks to K Wilson. The club were in no way deterred as they cued their way to a 3-1 lead courtesy of A Lloyd/S Zaman/M Evans.
The Pheasant responded in kind levelling three all with wins from M Maddox/C Morris. The club clawed their way back to a 6-3 winning lead thanks to S Zaman/B Kilfoyle/A Lloyd. Final frame went to M Maddox for the visitors 4-6.
Bridge Inn took on Anstice, Madeley, whose M Honeywell gave the hosts a 1-0 lead. The visitors proceeded to win the next four frames taking the lead 4-1 thanks to P Waters/N Wallcroft/K Blackham/S Stevens.
I Copeland lowered the deficit for The Bridge 2-4. The Anstice then stepped up a gear as they cued away to a 7-2 winning lead courtesy of P Waters/N Wallcroft/S Stevens.
A further win from M Honeywell gave The Bridge the final frame and a 3-7 outcome.
Duke of York, Oakengates, had no problems in their home game over visiting Smithfield, Wellington, as they produced an 8-2 win through the cuing of D Ward (2)/M Pooler/J Fletcher (2)/N Forgham/A Hyde/P Wormstone. Smithfield wins R Shields and W Gilbert.
R Trevor cued off for Railway, Wellington, away to Rose & Crown, Ketley, whose P Higginbottom and E Mansell put them ahead 2-1.
The Railway steamed ahead to a 3-2 lead courtesy of A Smitherman and M Masters. A Loviett put matters on an even keel 3-3. The Railway fought back to a 7-3 win courtesy of A Smitherman/R Trevor/M Masters/R Scane.
Horseshoes, Ketley, were on form leading 7-0 in their home game over WWF Club S with wins from M Corbett (2)/M Nicholls/J Hayward/M Harvey/S Espley/A Mac.
The club bounced back to win all three remaining frames courtesy of J Busby/P Hughes/M Barnes.
R Perry gave Kings Head, Newport, a 1-0 head start home to The Bush, St Georges, who quickly took the lead 3-1 through A Kent/J Wright/P Smith.
N Hallett and E Keenan levelled matters for The Kings 3-3. The Bush then took control of the match coming out on top 7-3 victors thanks to J Wright/P Smith/A Kent/M Jones.
A Williams put Haygate, Wellington, 1-0 up away to Rose & Crown, Stirchley, whose N Arnold equalised for them 1-1.
This was then followed up by a win from N Hitch 2-1. S Williams replied for The Haygate to level at 2-2. The Rose increased their lead 4-2 courtesy of S Kavanagh and C Arnold.
A Williams lowered the deficit for the visitors 3-4. A Reed put The Rose 5-3 up whilst frame nine went to The Haygate’s S Williams 4-5.
It was then left to anchorman P Jones to secure The Rose of a 6-4 win.
OAKENGATES & DISTRICT INVITATION POOL LEAGUE
Duke of York, Oakengates, were away to John Bayley Club where J Fletcher put them at a 1-0 advantage before J McCunnin equalised for the club one all.
M Pooler put The Duke back in contention 2-1. The club levelled again, this time through D Porter 2-2. The next two frames went the way of The Duke 4-2 through B Jones and M Pooler.
The club fought back to level again four all thanks to Andy Hill and D Parker. Without preamble The Duke marched on to a 6-4 win through the cuing of J Fletcher and N Forgham.
WWF Club C had no problems in their home game against The Pheasant, Wellington, as they produced a resounding 8-2 win thanks to B Kilfoyle (2)/A Hadjilouca/S Worrall/L Badhan/A Lloyd/G Turner/M Evans.
Pheasant winners were C Darrall and N Howe.
P Dix drew first blood for WWF Club B away to Captain Webb whose L Davis made it all square one all.
M Watkins replied for the club 2-1.
The Webb responded in kind taking the lead 3-2 with wins from S Wright and team mate P Smallwood.
The club bounced back regaining their lead 5-3 courtesy of M Watkins/R Seabury/P Dix.
S Wright gave The Webb a further frame 4-5. It was then left to skipper T Taylor to secure the club of a 6-4 win.
Beehive, Shifnal, whitewashed hosts WWF Club S with wins from M Locklin (2)/P Mullinder (2)/A Hotchkiss/M Brown (2)/K Pugh/P Bullock (2).
Bridge Inn went 2-0 down away to Lamb Inn, W/Wood, courtesy of D Evans and C Jones.
The Bridge responded in kind taking the lead 4-2 thanks to M Honeywell/I Copeland/N Hitch/K Genner.
C Jones won frame seven for The Lamb 3-4. S Robinson responded for The Lamb 4-5.
Anchorman N Hitch gave The Bridge the frame they needed for a 6-4 win.
D Hayes took control for Trench Tavern away to Park Inn, Wellington, who equalised through P Skeffington. M Locklin put The Tavern back in the driving seat 2-1.
The Park then cued their way to a 4-2 lead with wins from S Kitt/D Currier/A Hoof.
The Tavern then forged ahead to a 6-4 win through B Wedge/M Locklin/G Brookes/B Lane.
