Different type of ball for bucks

Football fans and hospital fundraisers are joining forces to organise the first Spring Ball to be held on AFC Telford United’s football ground.

Telford United Supporters Trust (TUST) and the Friends of the Princess Royal Hospital have teamed up to organise the event at AFC Telford United Bucks Head ground on May 15.

A marquee will be put up to host the ball and money raised will be used to support the work of both organisations.

Tickets for the black tie ball are £35, which includes a live band and six course meal. Tickets are limited and will be issued on a first come first served basis.

Organisers said both fundraising groups share similar missions as they both want to benefit the local community.

Telford United Supporters look to preserve and promote football at AFC Telford United for the benefit of the community of Telford and Wrekin, strengthening the bond between the club and the community.

Support

The aim of the Friends of the Princess Royal Hospital is to raise funds to provide vital services and equipment for use by the community to support the diagnosis, treatment and comfort of patients and their families receiving hospital care.

Chairman of TUST, David Embery said: “As owners of the community’s football club, the principle of being a prominent part the local community is something that TUST has held dear since it original set up AFC Telford Utd in 2004.

“It is a privilege for TUST to work with the Friends of Princess Royal Hospital who themselves hold their principles dear with regards to helping the Princess Royal Hospital carry out its invaluable work.

“All connected with TUST and Telford United will endeavour to work towards making the Charity Ball a success for both organisations and in turn therefore benefit the local community.”

Alan Millward, Friends chairman, added: “The Spring Ball will be an ideal opportunity for us to get 2009 off to a fantastic start.

“If you would like a fantastic evening out, with the knowledge that you are helping two fantastic organisations, then I urge you to get your tickets now.”
