League leaders Beacon in whitewash of Bayley Club

Beacon, Madeley, who have yet to lose a match had no problems in their home game as they trounced visiting Sir John Bayley Club with the maximum 8-0 in The Telford & District Landlords Invitation Pool League.

Wins came from M Musgrave (2)/S Osborn/P Waters/K Blackham (2)/C Woods/N Stones.

Anstice, Madeley, hot on the heels of the leaders travelled to WWFC A where they led 2-0 courtesy of A Moore and A Elliott.

The club fought back to level 2-2 through L Badhan and A Hadgilouca. The visitors took back control of the match going home 6-2 winners thanks to A Moore/S Camp/I Duffy/A Elliott.

Woolpack, Shawbirch, went 1-0 down home to Haygate, Wellington, with an opening win from A Williams.

The Pack replied through D Wilson/G Parry/L Turner, taking the lead 3-1. A further win from A Williams lowered the deficit for The Haygate 2-3.

A seven ball clearance from P Dix gave The Pack a point 4-2. P Ellis went on for The Haygate, giving them the next frame with an eight ball clearance from the break.

Final frame went to anchorman L Turner for the hosts 5-3.

WWF Club B took on neighbouring Lamb Inn, W/Wood, who led 2-0 with wins from B O’Neill and team mate S Robinson.

The club bounced back to win the match 6-2 courtesy of M Magnier (2)/A Lloyd (2)/J Hayward/D Cope.

It was a local derby at WWF Club as the E team played hosts to their other club side whose C Nolan gave them a 1-0 lead before T Anslow levelled for the hosts one all.

The visitors regained their lead with wins from N Hitch/K Genner/C Nolan.

T & J Anslow took the next two frames for the E side 3-4. It was left to Alan Hill to ensure the visitors of a 5-3 win.

WWF Club C took a short trip next door to hosts White Horse B, whose P Bullock drew first blood for them 1-0. S Zaman equalised for the club one all.

M Locklin put The Horse back in contention 2-1. The club fought back to a 3-2 lead thanks to M Evans and B Kilfoyle.

A further win from P Bullock gave The Horse another frame making it 3-3. Once again the club bounced back to go home 5-3 winners through A Hayes and S Zaman.

Rose & Crown, Ketley, held White Horse A, W/Wood, to a 4-4 home draw with wins from A Loviett (2)/R Yates/P Stokes. Horse wins D Williams/S Lewis (2)/G Walton.

R Humphries and R Pengelley set the precedence for Park Inn, Welllington, home to WWFCD leading 2-0. D Smallwood then replied for the club 1-2.

S Kitt made it 3-1 for The Park side and K Wilson then pegged back a frame for the club 2-3. The Park turned the tables on their opponents and raced home to a 6-2 victory thanks to R Humphries/S Kitt/R Pengelley.

Dun Cow, Trench, trailed 0-3 home to WWF Club S, winners being L Turner/J Busby/J Beddoes. P Jackson took the next frame for The Dun side 1-3.

J Busby won frame five for the club 4-1. The Dun then clawed their way back to a 3-4 scoreline thanks to the cuing of T Wakeley and G Wright.

Everything now hinged on that vital final frame which went to L Turner for the club giving them a 5-3 win.

Minnesota Fats were held to a 4-4 home draw by The Bush, St Georges, with wins from J Hoof (2)/G Burrows/S Moreton. Bush wins K Stones (2)/G Cook/P Baker.

OAKENGATES & DISTRICT INVITATION POOL LEAGUE

Trench Tavern took on Granville, Hadley, whose S Rowley put them 1-0 up. This was followed up by a seven ball clearance from N Hitch 2-0.

G Brookes won the next frame for The Tavern side 1-2. The visitors then cued their way to a 7-1 winning lead courtesy of I Copeland (2)/M Honeywell/N Hitch/K Genner.

Last two frames went to G Brookes and D Hayes for the Tavern team.

Steph Heinrich saved face for WWFCS away to their counterparts, the D side, coming out on top 9-1 victors thanks to A Williams/K Wilson (2)/A Birch (2)/B Turner (2)/S Williams (2).

M Corbett drew first blood for Wellington Arms home to WWF Club C who promptly took the lead 3-1 thanks to A Hadgilouca/S Worrall/S Zaman.

The Arms were in no way deterred as they equalised 3-3 with wins from D Trevor/M Corbett. With winning on their minds the club then cruised into a 7-3 win through M Evans/S Worrall/A Hadgilouca/B Kilfoyle.

M Locklin/M Brown and P Mullinder gave Beehive, Shifnal, a 3-0 away lead against hosts Pheasant, Wellington, whose A Hickens pegged back a frame for them 1-3.

The Hive then flew ahead 7-1 thanks to P Bullock/K Pugh/M Locklin/M Brown. K Landlord replied for the hosts’ side 2-7.

Final frame went to P Bullock for the visitors 8-2.

P Dix gave WWF Club B a 1-0 home start against Lamb Inn, W/Wood, who levelled matters through B O’Neill. J Price and R Seabury put the club back in contention 3-1.

S Robinson replied for The Lamb 2-3. The club then raced ahead to a winning 7-2 lead courtesy of J Price/M Watkins/P Dix/T Taylor. Final frame went to The Lamb’s K Goodwin.

VIDEO INVITATION POOL LEAGUE

Last week it was the turn of the Consolation Cup. Of the two games played I have only received one result.

Queens, Wellington, played hosts to Elephant & Castle P, St Georges, who promptly cued their way to a 5-0 lead through P Baker/P Evans/J Mottershaw/S Carter/B Burden.

The Queens then won the next two frames thanks to D Currier and C Johnson 2-5. It was then left to P Baker to secure the St Georges side of a place in the next round winning 6-2.

GORGE TRADITIONAL INVITATION POOL LEAGUE

Leaders White Horse All Stars produced the maximum 7-0 in an away game against Pheasant Ladies with wins from D Bedworth/C Pritchard/J Mills/E Solon/R Dack singles, D Bedworth, E Solon/C Pritchard, R Dack doubles.

Second place LDSCC travelled to White Horse Knights and took an early 1-0 lead with an opening win from S Bevan before L Foster made it all square for The Knights 1-1.

The Club then proceeded to lead 4-1 through M Lees/R Shenton/M Randall singles. The hosts pegged back the opening doubles frame courtesy of L Foster and P Jones 2-4.

The Club then won the final doubles giving them a 5-2 scoreline through M Randall and S Bevan.

Third Little Dawley A led 2-0 in their home game against The Station Hotel, with wins from C Gifford/L Cross.

C Stokes replied for The Station 1-2. Wins from S Cross and A Smallwood put the Dawley side 4-1 up.

This was followed up by an opening doubles win from S Cross and C Gifford 5-1. The Station went on to win the latest doubles through the cuing of C Stokes and C Perry.

S Purcell set the precedence for The Elizabethan, home to LDSCB leading 1-0. The club bounced back taking a 4-1 lead courtesy of P Cottey/A Henry/P Clarke/A Clarke.

R Pugh and partner S Purcell took the first doubles frame for the hosts 2-4. Last frame went to the club’s pairing of A Henry and A Clarke 5-2.

M Grundy saved The Pheasant from a whitewash at the hands of a 6-1 winning LDSK, winners being C Gittus/C Lawson/S & A Drake singles, C Gittus, A Drake/S Drake, C Lawson doubles.

Missing results were Madeley Cricket Club v Cressage Club and DSC v Bulls Head Hitters.

All winning teams will be fined £3 as per general rules which were part of the pack handed out at the fixtures meeting.
