WWF Club’s A Team show the way

J Busby cued off for WWF Club S away to their A side giving them an early 1-0 lead in The Telford & District Landlords Invitation Pool League.

The A side were in no way deterred as they rallied back to a 6-1 winning lead courtesy of J Morris (2)/D Evans (2)/L Badhan/P Devey. Final frame went to J Beddoes for the S team 2-6.

WWF Club B travelled to Woolpack where D Cope and A Lloyd gave them a 2-0 advantage. The Pack pegged back to a 4-2 lead with wins from G Parry/D Wilson (2)/P Dix.

D Cope responded for the club 3-4. It was then left to anchorman G Parry to secure The Pack of a 5-3 win.

R Yates saved face for Rose & Crown, Ketley, away to an on form Minnesota Fats, coming up trumps with a 7-1 win thanks to J Hoof/J Price (2)/G Burrows (2)/S Moreton.

White Horse B, W/Wood, held visiting Duke of York, Oakengates, to a 4-4 home draw with wins from P Mullinder (2)/A Hotchkiss/M Locklin. Duke wins M Pooler/J Fletcher (2)/N Forgham.

WWF Club E played hosts to Sir John Bayley Club who promptly took a 4-0 lead courtesy of D Oliver/M Corbett/D Stokes/M Birch.

The club fought back to win the next two frames with wins from D Worrall/T Anslow 2-4. The Bayley lads then ran out 6-2 victors through the cuing of M Corbett and C Baugh.

J Mottershaw and G Williams put Bush, St Georges, in the driving seat leading 2-0 away to opponents WWF Club C whose B Neville went on to win frame four 1-2.

G Cook replied for The Bush 3-1. J Smith pegged back a frame for the club 2-3. A further win from G Cook put The BUsh ahead 4-2.

This was followed up by a match clincher from J Mottershaw 5-2. Final frame went to the club’s veteran M Evans.

Once again The Beacon have produced a maximum 8-0 victory. This time away to Labour In Vain with wins from S Osborn/M Musgrave/P Waters (2), one of which was an eleven ball clearance/K Blackham (2)/N Stones/C Woods.

At the WW Football Club it turned out to be a local derby as The Club took on their D side. C Nolan and team mate A Hill put the hosts 2-0 up.

The D side replied with a win from A Birch 1-2. K Genner made it 3-1 for the hosts. K Wilson then made it 2-3 for the visitors.

The club responded in kind taking the next three frames and the match 6-2 courtesy of A Hill/K Genner/C Nolan.

Dun Cow, Trench, went 1-0 down in their home game against local Lamb Inn, W/Wood, whose C Jones set the precedence for them.

The Dun Cow bounced back in fine style going into a 5-1 winning lead with wins from I Jackson/G Wright (2)/T Wakeley/P Jackson.

The Lamb went on to win both remaining frames thanks to the cuing of S Robinson and B O’Neill 3-5.

Anstice produced an 8-0 home win over visiting Haygate, Wellington, with wins from A Elliott (2)/N Wallcroft (2)/S Camp (2)/A Moore (2).

GORGE TRADITIONAL INVITATION POOL LEAGUE

Leaders LDS Club C had a shock defeat at the hands of a lowly Pheasant, beating them 4-3. J Busby gave The Pheasant a 1-0 home lead before the club took the lead 2-1 through R Shenton and M Rhodes.

The hosts quickly took control of the match going into a 4-2 winning lead with wins from S Walker, M Moreton singles/M Woolliscroft, M Grundy doubles.

Final doubles goes to the club pairing of M Rhodes and S Bevan.

Second place LDS Club B travelled to Bulls Head Hitters leading 1-0 courtesy of C Johnson. The Bull took the lead with wins from G Bradshaw and J Haran.

A seven ball clearance from the club’s A Henry levelled matters two all. S Lane replied for The Bull 3-2.

The club bounced back winning both doubles and the match thanks to A Henry, A Clarke/P Cottey, C Johnson doubles.

Third place White Horse All Stars took on The Elizabethan who went down 2-0 in their away game thanks to D Bedworth and C Griffiths.

S Purcell pegged back a frame for The Lizzy 1-2. E Solon then made it 3-1 for The Horse.

The Lizzy fought back to make it all square 3-3 with wins from M Preston singles. He then teamed up with R Pugh to win the opening doubles.

It was then left to C Pritchard and partner R Dack to ensure The Horse of a 4-3 win.

LDS Club K led 1-0 home to Dawley Social courtesy of C Lawson. C Rixom equalised for The Social side one all.

The hosts then turned the tables on The Social cuing ahead to a 5-1 winning lead thanks to A/M/S Drake singles, S Drake and C Lawson doubles.

Final doubles went to C Rixom and Jason Fielding for the visitors 2-5.

Another 4-3 win, this time was LDSA home to Madeley Cricket Club, winners being C Gifford/L Cross/L Edwards/S Cross singles.

Madeley winners were S Plant singles, P Clarkson, S Plant/D Taylor, R Blakey doubles.

Cressage Club produced the maximum 7-0 in their home game against Pheasant Ladies with wins from D Meredith/T Jones/D Gill/G Jones/G Thompson singles/S & G Thompson/D Meredith, T Jones doubles.

VIDEO INVITATION POOL LEAGUE

Through to the semi-finals of the prestigious singles title are P Waters/L Badhan/D Cope/S Osborn.

OAKENGATES & DISTRICT INVITATION POOL LEAGUE

WWF Club S were held to a 5-5 home draw by Captain Webb thanks to the cuing of J Busby (2)/Steph Heinrich/P Hughes/L Turner.

Webb winners were L Davis (2)/P Smallwood/K Williams/D Smallwood.

Steve Jones drew first blood for Wellington Arms away to Pheasant, Wellington, who seem to be struggling for players this season, going down 1-0.

The Pheasant replied with wins from N Howe and D Brookes 2-1. The Arms then cued their way to an 8-2 victory courtesy of I Shenton (2)/Nat Trevor/M Corbett/D Trevor/Steve and Stuart Jones.

Park Inn, Wellington, took a trip to WWF Club C where S Worrall gave the club 1-0 advantage.

The Park responded in kind to lead 3-1 thanks to S Kitt/J & A Hoof. Without preamble the club fought their way back to a 7-3 win courtesy of J Fallows/S Worrall/G Turner/A Lloyd/B Kilfoyle/A Hadgilouca.

Duke of York, Oakengates, took a comfortable 5-0 lead home to WWF Club B with wins from M Pooler/B Jones/I Openshaw/N Forgham/J Fletcher.

The club fought back to win the next two frames with wins from M Watkins and T Taylor 2-5. The Duke then ran out 8-2 winners thanks to I Openshaw/C Wedge/J Fletcher.

Beehive, Shifnal, played hosts to John Bayley Club whose Allen Hill set the precedence for them to lead 1-0 before M Brown equalised for The Hive 1-1.

Andy Hill put the club back on track 2-1. The Hive then buzzed their way to a 5-1 lead through the cuing of P Mullinder/P Bullock/K Pugh/M Locklin.

Wins from Andy Hill and F McCunnin pegged back the club to a 4-5 scoreline. It was then left to P Bullock to give The Hive a 6-4 win.

WWF Club D took a short trip to Trench Tavern where they took an early 1-0 lead courtesy of A Williams. M Locklin equalised for the Tavern side 1-1.

The club then went into overdrive and raced into an 8-1 winning lead with wins from B Turner (2)/K Wilson (2)/D Owen/A Birch/A Williams.

Final frame went to The Tavern’s B Wedge 2-8.
