A happy ending unfolded this week over the tale of two small dogs who were abandoned outside a Telford kennels, victims of the credit crunch.
Lola and Franko, thought to be Staffordshire bull terrier cross-breeds, have won a new future after being successfully rehomed.
The two young dogs were found tied up and abandoned at Hilbrae Pets Hotel, Cold Hatton, near Wellington.
The Telfored Journal told last week how the dogs were discovered tied by leads to the kennels van with a note which read: “In the last 24 hours, I have lost my job and home and I can’t keep the dogs. Their names are Lola and Franko.
“I love these dogs with all my heart, please look after them.”
Kennels owner Mary Burrell said it was fortunate she went out that night and discovered them otherwise they could have been dead by morning, strangled by their tangled leads.
Since the Journal told the dogs’ sad story, the kennels has received numerous phone calls from concerned pet-lovers and a kennel supporter from Malinslee, who did not want to be named, has now stepped forward to re-home them and keep both dogs together.
