On May 31, 11 members of the Wrekin Road Runners took part in the Albert Bartlett Edinburgh Marathon.
Four members (Mark Evans, Paul Williams, Sarah Hodgson and Kathy Ling) took part in the relay made up of 4 stages along the marathon route finishing in a time of 4 hours 43 minutes and 54 seconds. The other seven club members all took on the full marathon, battling with the heat of a hot May day and lack of water at some water stations.
First to finish was Tony Nicholls in 3:45:57 followed by Denzil Martin 4:10:10, Sarah Aston 4:30:02 completing her 15 marathon and 7th of 2009, Matt Johnson 4:50:29, Kim Denning 4:58:29 Helen Smith 5:01:49 (her first marathon) and Jon Aston 5:10:13 who completed in 33rd marathon and 10th of 2009.
The Wrekin Road Runners meet at Telford Ice Rink for training runs every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.15pm.
New members are always welcome with Thursday’s being especially good for beginners.
