A Telford man is to take part in a 100 mile charity cycle ride from Ironbridge to Barmouth in the dark
Richard Shaw, aged 27, from Donnington Wood, has taken up the challenge to raise cash for Severn Hospice.
Mr Shaw said he has never taken up a challenge like this before and has been training hard for the event which takes place on July 31.
“It is the first time I have done anything like this and 100 miles is a long way to travel under your own steam,” he said.
“It is nearly four times the length of the London Marathon and the equivalent of five times the length of the English Channel.
“There will be blisters, there will be pain, I am going to suffer.
“I chose to raise the money for Severn Hospice because it is a local charity and I think it is a great charity.
“I also have a close friend who works for the charity.
“The work they do is vital and unique. They enable people with conditions and illnesses to be comfortable and supported through difficult and emotional times.
“And the care they provide is not only to a patient, but also to the whole family who also suffer the same and whose feelings shouldn’t be overlooked.”
