A concerned Telford family are calling on Wellington residents to help them catch their pet parrot.
Wendy Williams, from the Rock, lost her green parrot around 10 weeks ago after taking its cage into the garden so the bird could sun herself.
After reading last week’s Telford Journal the family say they are pleased to hear their pet is still alive but are keen to have her back home and safe.
The green Derbyan parrot is named Derby after her breed.
Wendy’s mother, Mary Goodwan, said: “They have only had it a few months. It’s got to be around 10 weeks since she flew off.
“It is quite a young parrot and it is green. We are pleased she is surviving but with the autumn weather coming that is a worry.”
Derby escaped after the cage door swung open in the garden.
“Derby likes honey sticks and any soft fruit. They had just got her to speak and say ‘pretty girl’. They have only had her a couple of weeks so she is still a nervous parrot.”
One reader from Apley has managed to capture the bird on film.
Keith Hancox, from Dothill, said: “We have been visited several times by a green parrot recently. It stops to have a drink from our bird bath regularly.”
Nathan Cox said: “I saw a parrot in Wellington churchyard on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 25. It seemed well and happy if a little timid when I tried to approach it.”
If anyone has any more information to please call Mrs Williams on 01952 505784 or Mrs Goodwan on 01952 503145.
