A plum job cooking up jam for residents

Wellington residents have been getting in a jam in preparation for their harvest display later this month.

Jill Burgess, Care Centre activities co-ordinator, said: “We all had a great time cooking the jam and sharing our recipes.

“We used three pounds of plums and made eight jars of jam which we all had a taste of.

“Resident Mable Pawley was a real expert as she had lots of fruit trees where she used to live and used to make plum jam.”

Residents are now saving some of the jams for their Harvest Festival celebrations.

But they are also having some for breakfast at the Care Centre.

Jill is the Care Centre’s dedicated Activities Co-ordinator and helps all residents have an active social life through exercise, days out and events.

Morris Care owns five nursing homes in Shropshire and Cheshire.
