‘Found’ parrot is infact a cockatiel

A Telford family searching for their missing pet parrot are now ‘fostering’ a cockatiel after it was found in Ketley.

Wendy Williams, from the Rock, has been looking for her family’s green parrot, Darby, for around a month after it flew out of its cage in September.

But last week she received a call from a Ketley resident who thought they had found her bird.

After dashing down to collect the parrot it was discovered that the bird was in fact a cockatiel.

Mrs Williams, who already owns a cockatiel, took the feathered friend home with her to look after until its owner gets in contact.

Mary Goodwan, Wendy’s mother, said: “Someone found a bird and they contacted us but we found out it was a cockatiel.

“What we have done is my daughter has got her in a cage and fostered it until someone claims it.

“The cockatiel is exhausted but she is eating well.”

Mrs Goodwan said the two cockatiels have now made friends and they are chatting and cooing to each other.

“We are still looking for our parrot,” she added.
