A newly refurbished pub is showing its commitment to selling quality real alses by hosting its first ever beer festival.
The Gate Inn at Bratton, near Admaston, is gearing up for the big weekend this Friday and Saturday.
It is being supported in the venture by Ironbridge Brewery, Wem Ales and Titanic Brewery. The leading brewers are hoping to forge a link with the local in a bid to launch an annual festival at the venue.
Landlords Yvonne Young and Nigel Wainwright have been in business just six months, undergoing a refurbishment as complete novices to the industry.
But as loyal locals to the ailing Gate Inn, they felt compelled to bring it back to life.
Speaking about the upcoming festival Nigel said it was a big undertaking.
He said: “It has been a labour of love, and having a passion for real ales, we have been delighted to our see sales grow since we opened in March.
“We were asked by our many real ale drinkers, and encouraged by CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) to host a festival, letting the region know just what we have to offer here at The Gate.
“We do need the support of all the ale lovers in the area though, so we hope you come along and enjoy this exciting event.”
The pub menu will operate as normal, featuring seasonal produce. And for the event there will be a hearty pig roast.
With a growing reputation for quality home cooked food the Gate Inn aims to appeal to all ages and tastes.
A large beer garden and country setting also set up the establishment perfectly for the inaugural festival.
A programme of live music will keep the feet tapping and entertainment will be laid on for the children, featuring a bouncy castle and face painting.
The event opens at 4pm on the Friday, with more than 26 featured ales and four ciders on offer.
