Papa Roach at Wolverhampton Civic

If you like loud music and major moshing then you should have been at the Civic in Wolverhampton last week.

Review

Papa Roach, the Grammy nominated band from California, had chosen the venue as part of their UK and European tour on Tuesday night, October 6.

The gig was a sell-out and the sound was cranked up for the fans who poured into the venue.

From the word go the band leapt into their loud and energetic set list which was sprinkled with classics as well as new material from this year’s album Metamorphosis.

Fans were able to jump around as lead singer Jacoby Dakota Shaddix belted out lyrics on a raised stage.

He then proceeded to perform a daring stunt where he launched himself up into the balcony.

From there he travelled around the upper floor singing down at the audience below. Those around him were both stunned and excited to have the performer so up close and personal.

There were some nail-biting moments when the crowd were unsure as to whether or not he would leap into the fans below. But he finished his journey and was lowered back onto the stage by two burly bouncers.

Papa Roach came on the scene in 2000 and have sold over 8 million albums worldwide.

The band was supported by Madina Lake who immerged on the scene in around 2007.

It isn’t often a warm-up band equals the main performers but this four-piece band did a sterling job resulting in an eruption of applause and cheers.

They whipped up the crowds with hits including House of Cards and Here I Stand preparing the audience for a massive evening of music.

The Civic is a great venue which attracts a large range of performers.
