Police have handed out 30 speeding tickets to motorists on a busy Leegomery Road where a boy was seriously injured earlier this year.
Tom Rowley, aged eight, was left in a critical condition after being hit by a car near his home in Hadley Park Road in July.
Residents called for road safety action and Police and Telford & Wrekin Council are now putting in place a number of measures to help protect others from harm.
Chris Ammonds, from West Mercia Police, said a local policing team recently carried out around 1,000 speed checks on the road. It resulted in 30 fixed penalty notices being issued.
He said: “I would imagine the amount of fixed penalty notices have increased because the area has been targeted by the officers as a priority area.”
Rumble strips, temporary speed indicators devices and road training for children have also been carried out.
Councillor Stephen Bentley, Cabinet member for Environment at Telford & Wrekin Council, said they had been working closely with partners.
He said: “We are due to install a speed indicator sign to warn drivers about excessive speed.
“We are also working with the parish council and residents to review the accident and traffic management issues along Hadley Park Road and will be developing proposals to be implemented in 2010.
“I am sure the combination of these measures will make for a safer environment for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.”
