Madeley parade to go ahead as usual

Telford officials are urging residents to support poppy day amidst fears that regeneration work could keep them away.

Plans to revamp Madeley are in full swing but borough councillor, Gill Green, wants residents to know that the annual Remembrance Day parade will not be affected.

This year’s event is on Sunday from 10.15am by the doctors surgery on Woodside.

Councillor Green said: “This year, with the construction, people might think because of the regeneration the parade is not happening.

“But even though circumstances are difficult, it is a traditional event and it is still on where it usually is.

“The event takes place adjacent to part of the construction. People used to stand by the library but this year they can stand on the grass area on Russel Green.

“It is a very important community event,” Councillor Green added.
