Sporting youngsters who have been waiting six years to tour Holland need to raise thousands of pounds for the trip.
A squad of lads from Admaston Juniors under 12s football team will be in Wellington Market on Saturday, November 28, to help pay for their Holland tour planned for Easter 2010.
The boys need to raise around £400 each, that’s around £2,500 for the whole team, to take part in the much anticipated trip.
The November fundraiser will see the footballers helping traders and shoppers in the market by packing bags and stocking shelves. There will also be a special stall selling mulled wine and mince pies between 3 and 5pm.
Sarah Chard, Wellington Market Company, said: “The lads have been planning this trip since the team first started up six years ago.
“They have been really working hard to raise the money for their trip and have lots of activities planned to make sure that they collect enough money to get to the Netherlands.
“The stall selling mulled wine and mince pies will hopefully get shoppers in a festive mood and raise money for the lads to experience playing football in another country.
“I’d like to thank all of the traders that have allowed the lads to work with them.”
The event coincides with the big switch-on for Wellington’s Christmas lights, which this year is being carried out by the Mayor in the town square at 4.45pm.
