David Beckham’s tattooist will be arriving in Telford in January to take part in the UK’s first tattoo convention.
Louis Molloy, the footballer’s tattooer, has agreed to join top artists from across the globe to participate in the Tattoo Freeze Convention 2010.
Telford International Centre has been chosen as the venue for the event on Sunday, January 17.
Entertainment is set to include a graffiti wall, BMX & Skateboard demonstrations, live music, the first National Tattoo Photography Awards, a roller darby and art exhibitions.
Spokesperson Shelley Curry said: “There is no other convention like this convention.
“Those who are coming are among the top tattoo artists in the world, including some who have never been to the UK before.
“We chose Telford because it is a central location. We wanted to bring something unique and there is nothing like this in the UK.”
Tattoo Freeze is a one-day show run by the publishers of Skin Deep, Skin Shots and Tattoo Master magazines and organisers of Tattoo Jam
Event co-ordinator Stuart Mears said: “We will have some of the world’s best artists working at Tattoo Freeze. For example, Manchester-based tattooist Louis Malloy who runs one of the most highly regarded tattoo studios in the UK and has done the majority of the skin art on David Beckham.
Mr Molloy, of Middleton Tattoo Studio and a star of The London Ink TV series, said: “I was invited to work the Tattoo Freeze Convention in Telford, and looking at how they are trying to create an event that is different to the current offerings of the scene, I happily agreed.
“Shropshire is a beautiful county too and I’ll be making sure I do some sightseeing the following day, before heading back to my studio in Manchester”.
