Sequins, crowd surfing and a large drum helped Skunk Anansie put on an awesome show in Wolverhampton.
The popular band played their greatest hits to a packed Civic Hall in Wolverhampton on Wednesday, November 25.
When the stage curtain dropped at the beginning of the evening to reveal the band’s equipment the excited crowd cheered in anticipation.
The intro music began and the band teased their audience by taking their time to get up on stage.
They eventually came out to a roar of applause and lead singer Skin leapt into the first bars of their opening tune hidden beneath a large glittering ball of tinsel with only her sequin leggings peeping through.
Some thought her costume was similar to a large and shiny lion’s mane while others thought she was getting into the festive spirit.
After a while the singer popped her head out of the sparkles and her strong voice became the centre of the show.
Skin was full of energy as she bounced around the stage still managing to hit every note of the band’s tunes with perfection.
A highlight was when she unexpectedly threw herself into the crowd and a sea of hands carried her to the back of the room as she belted out her hits. She was then returned to the stage where she climbed the speakers and jumped into the balconies above.
The band played all their classics including Hedonism, Weep and Because of You as well as some new tracks.
Skin declared: “Wolverhampton Civic is a great rock venue” and “it’s good to be back” which of course it was.
Here’s hoping Skunk Anansie continue to create many more great tunes.
