Refurb for roundabout clock

Parish councillors are delighted the borough council is to fix a Telford clock on one of the gateways to the town.

Last week Lilleshall and Donnington parish councillors revealed a clock on Clock Tower roundabout, in Donnington, had not been working for months and believed it a ‘bad advert’ for the area.

Councillor Stephen Bentley, cabinet member for Environment, said: “We are currently in consultation with a specialist clock repairing company with a view to having it repaired as soon as practically possible. This will include a full reconditioning and refurbishing and we estimate the cost of the repairs will be up to £3,000.”

Ralph Morgan, Lilleshall and Donnington  clerk, said: “It is good news. The clock hasn’t worked for six or seven months.”

Councillor Brian Green agreed it was a positive step.

“It is good news,” he said. “This is a gateway to Telford. Hopefully they will be doing something about it soon.”
