Christmas lights in Wellington had to be taken away earlier than expected this year - after some of the display fell down in the town centre.
A string of lights across the square in Wellington were discovered on the floor on New Year’s Eve and officials are trying to establigh how it happened.
Howard Perkins, Wellington Town Clerk, said: “We had a bit of a crisis with the lights. It was a string of lights that fell down across the square and I don’t know why.
“It happened in the night and I found them when I came into the office on the morning of New Year’s Eve.
“We are waiting to find out what happened. The contractors will take them away.”
Mr Perkins added nobody was hurt during the incident.
