School fundraising

Telford youngsters are putting their heads together this year to think up some great ideas to raise thousands of pounds for a new minibus.

Raising money for a new minibus are Lawley Primary School pupils Sam Bulger, ten, front left, Harrison Dunn, ten, front centre, Annabelle Deakin, ten, front right, William Pitchford, ten, centre left, Maia Young, ten, centre, Adrianne Piper, eleven, centre right, Ryan Byrne, eleven, back left and Keeley David, ten, back right.Pupils from Lawley Primary School have formed their own fundraising team, called Gift and Talent, to collect money for a new school bus.

The teachers have taken a back seat while the youngsters have researched, suggested ideas, and carried out events to collect money.

Jo Clarke, Gifts and Talent’s group co-ordinator, said: “The children themselves are planning how they are going to do the fundraising and we have taken a back seat.

“They have been very busy. They made things for the Christmas stalls and are looking at having a stall before Mother’s day.

“They have all come up with wonderful ideas.”

It is hoped the minibus will allow them to go on school trips and take part in other events. The youngsters have also formed their own choir to help raise funds.

The school are working with HSBC who are helping them as part of a match-funding initiative.
