Archery and cheerleading on offer

Charlton School is one of the sevent secondary schools within the Phoenix School Sports Partnership.

The Charlton family is made up of five primary schools - Apley Wood, Crudgington, Dothill, High Ercall and St Peters Bratton.

One of the main focuses for the primary schools is to increase participation within KS1.

The schools have decided to compete against each other in indoor athletics.

The PE co-ordinators from the primary schools attended a meeting at High Ercall School to see how indoor athletics can be run with KS1 students and how the older students within the school can run the stations and record the results.

Each school will participate on their own school site and the results will be compared with the other schools.

This is a fantastic project and has great opportunities for cross curricular links.

To increase participation and inter school competition within Charlton School the Year 7 and 8 students have also taken part in five indoor athletics events and are competing against BRJ School.

This is a great opportunity for the students to represent their school and compete against another school.

Another focus for the Charlton Family has been to provide activities for the semi sporty students with encouraging results.

Cheerleading has been introduced to Apley Wood and Charlton School. All of the primary schools will be taking part in Archery

sessions at the Charlton School run by the Telford Archery Club.

Archery has become very popular and by doing it through the schools it is creating a club link and encouraging students to participate outside off school.

The sports unlimited project is about to commence at Charlton School with a Table Tennis club at lunch time.

Table Tennis has proven to be very popular among the KS4 students and it is helping to increase participation.
