Detailed housing proposals revealed

Developers have unveiled details of plans for more than 300 homes to be built in Telford and are calling for residents’ views.

Lands Improvement, an independent property company, has been preparing the way for a residential neighbourhood on the brownfield site of Redhill clay pit in St Georges.

Outlining planning permission was granted in 2006 and this week detailed plans have been released.

The site will include 338 new homes providing a mix of family housing.

Twenty percent of housing will be affordable and available to local housing associations.

Other plans for the site include a play area with fully equipped children’s play space, kick-about park and skate park.

The site already has an ecology park with paths, bridleways, landscaping and new ponds open to the public.

New pedestrian footpaths will be made to create links to the Ecology Park and informal green amenity areas are also planned for the area.

James Stone, development surveyor for Lands Improvements, said: “We have four house builders that have expressed serious interest which is really encouraging for us that they have confidence in our ability.

“We have also been very encouraged by the support of the planning authority and Telford and Wrekin Council have been good to work with.”

Company bosses are calling for people to voice their opinions on the plans which are to be on display on Saturday at St George’s Sports and Social club from 9am until 1pm.
