After an extended winter break because of snow, football finally returned to the area last weekend.
It was Shropshire Challenge Cup day for Shifnal Town and Wellington Amateurs and both celebrated victories which bags them a place in the semi finals.
Amateurs were 2-1 victors over Haughmond while Shifnal won by the same scoreline against Hanwood.
Both will now be hopeful of making the final but with favourites Market Drayton Town and West Midland League high-flyers Ellesmere Rangers still in the draw, that will not be an easy task.
Meanwhile Wellington Amateurs followed up that win with another cup victory over Warstone Wanderes on Tuesday night.
The side won 2-1 to book a place in the next round of the league cup. Chris Henry and Craig Ryan were on target for Ams.
In the Shropshire County Premier Football League several sides were able to return to action. Shifnal United returned to the top of the table with a 2-1 win over Morda United.
Goals from Lee Mills and Jamie Evans earned the points for Shifnal. In the first division Meole Brace paid scant regard to league position as they beat second place Ketley Bank United in a nine goal thriller.
Ketley scored thanks to Ben Byram, Paddy Kumar and two for Carl Ainsworth, but it was Meole who won a fabulous game 5-4. Wellington Amateurs Reserves were defeated 4-0 at School Grove by Brown Clee as they continue to struggle at the wrong end of the table.
Wrockwardine Wood got their year off to a good start with a 3-1 win over Whitchurch Alport Reserves.
Jamie Trainer, Justin Worthington and Damon Bateman were all on target for The Wood with Jordy Kennedy scoring from the penalty spot for Alport.
Oakengates Athletic lost ground on the leaders Newport Town as they went down to fellow promotion hopefuls FC Hodnet.
A Nick Dawe brace and a Colin Lineton strike was not enough to earn Athletic appoint.
