Cut out the errors and we’ll climb the league’ - Killock

AFC Telford United defender Shane Killock hasn’t given up hope of the Bucks making a late push for the playoffs– despite a disappointing 3-0 defeat at title-chasing Southport on Saturday, writes Alex James.

Killock, who has impressed in the back four since his move from Oxford United, admitted that Telford were poor defensively during the second half last weekend.

But the 20-year-old said if the Bucks cut out their own individual errors they could still gatecrash the top five.

“People who haven’t come to the game will think it was another 3-0 hammering but we competed with them in the first half,

“We were quite ragged, particularly defensively. We knew it was going to be tough but even after we went 1-0 down I still believed we could get back into it. We don’t feel like it was a 3-0 game.

“We’re conceding goals from our mistakes lately.

“There have been no goals where you can say the opposition have ripped us apart and created something and all we can do is hold our hands up.

“All the goals have been from our mistakes and we need to start eradicating those mistakes if we are to keep clean sheets and go on and win games.”

With pressure now increasing on Bucks boss Rob Smith and his assistant Larry Chambers after three straight defeats, Killock added the squad are determined to get a much needed victory when Eastwood come to town this weekend.

He said: “We’re going to get our heads down and look ahead to the next game and try and put it right as soon as possible. “The lads are devastated because it’s just the way we’re going at the moment. We can’t get a result of late. We need to get back to working hard in training and we’ll try and get a result on Saturday.”

Eastwood are currently fourth in Blue Square North after Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against Alfreton Town.

Telford sit ninth – 12 points behind their next opponents and seven off the final play off place.
