Plastics will soon be collected from kerbs as borough officials announce plans for a recycling service upgrade and specially designed vehicles.
This summer will see the introduction of a new service to allow residents to recycle plastic bottles, butter tubs, yoghurt pots and some food trays alongside their usual kerbside collection.
The move comes in response to residents’ requests and council contractors, Telford and Wrekin Services, are working on introducing new recycling vehicles to their fleet to meet the extra demands.
The vehicles are designed to shred plastic in a different compartment from other recycled materials.
A new reusable bag will be delivered to every household along with further information on the service.
Residents will also receive two smaller bags to recycle old batteries and/or energy efficient light bulbs.
