A Telford couple are planning on inviting Radio 1 DJ Greg James back to the county for their first wedding anniversary next year, after he wowed party guests last week.
John and Ruth Suckling’s wedding was the talk of the county last Thursday, after the Radio 1 presenter agreed to DJ for them free of charge at their reception.
On the evening of the event Greg James was tweeting to his fans as he travelled down from London on the train.
He complimented the service saying: “@WrexShropRail having a lovely journey on your fine service this evening.”
Mrs Suckling said Greg arrived at the venue with a bottle of Champagne for the pair and for the first dance he chose ‘Time of My Life’ from the Dirty Dancing sound track.
“The day went really, really well,” said Mrs Suckling. “It was the best day and Greg was absolutely brilliant. He was a really nice guy. He was really good with everybody.
“Apparently it was the first wedding he had DJ’d but you would have never have guessed it.
“We are planning on doing a first year anniversary party and inviting him to that. I am sure we will stay in touch.”
Mrs Suckling said Greg James took a liking to her mum and even asked for a dance with the bride.
On the way home Greg James tweeted: “Brilliant wedding disco. John and Ruth are so lovely.”
Greg James said: “It was an amazing evening, John and Ruth are the perfect couple and it was lovely to meet some of the family.
“They gave us a bit of the wedding buffet for the long train journey home. Shame I couldn’t stay longer but had to get the last train home.”
