An exciting new era could be just around the corner for Hadley residents after borough bosses revealed plans for a £3.8 million centre face-lift.
Telford & Wrekin Council officials say Hadley has been earmarked as the next area of Telford for revamp plans.
Proposals to fund area improvements will go before the council in early March as part of the Borough Towns Initiative (BTI) programme to revitalise centres.
If the budget is given the nod the next step will be for officials to talk to residents as part of a consultation process.
Councillor Eric Carter, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The centre of Hadley has long been an area that people tell us needs regeneration. Because of this we have looked again at how we could achieve this and we can now make this happen if the Council commits to investing in the scheme through the budget. If the budget is approved we can start to make a real difference.”
Councillor Pat Smart, chairman of Hadley and Leegomery Parish Council, said: “This is an exciting new era for Hadley. The proposed investment is a golden opportunity to give the people a first rate shopping centre and Telford & Wrekin Council must be commended for their commitment to our community.”
If given the green light work is not planned to start until 2012.
