Success continues for the girls

Under 14s league cup final Holmer Lake 3 - Lllanymynech 2

HolmerLake Girls football team are currently into their second season and are continuing the success they had last year which saw them lift the Charity Cup and finish runners-up in the league, missing the title by two points.

Saturday’s cup final at the Shrewsbury Sports Village was against league rivals Llanymynech, a team Holmer Lake always enjoy a tough battle with. This game was no different as the advantage swung from end to end throughout.

Beth Evans took the team into a half time lead with a well placed shot, before their opponents levelled late in the second half to force extra time. Soon after the restart Llanymynech took the lead, which they only held for five minutes before Jenna Boddison drew the teams level again.

With only four minutes of extra time left Hannah Bates fired home to give Holmer Lake their second major trophy. This win also enabled the team to represent the county in the forthcoming regional finals of the Tesco Cup in April.
