Celebration of Chinese culture

Chinese culture will be celebrated with a traditional lion dance performed by youngsters from Telford Chinese School at a martial arts fun day.

Left to right from the Telford Chinese School Matthew Johnson, Joey Chen, Lisa Grant, head coach of the British Institute for Chinese Martial Arts and Jamie Chen.The event on Saturday will also have a special guest, Grand Master Teng Yie Woo, who is flying in from Malaysia.

The grandmaster was in the film The King & I with Jodie Foster and he will be running activites with British Institute for Chinese Martial Arts London head coach, Alasdiar Monteith.

Lisa Grant, Telford BICMA Club coach, said: “We have invited the school along to do a performance. It will be lovely for him to come and see what has been done with the club over the last two years.”

The fun day runs from 11am until 3pm and costs £12 for four hours. It is free to watch and people can turn up on the day.

Ages four to 10 must be accompanied by an adult watching.
