A young golfer from Telford will be hotfooting it to America to take part in a world Championship in July.

Rory McDonald O’Brien, aged six, from Muxton, is off to the States after winning a place in the World Junior Golf final being held in San Diego.
Two of the world’s most influential junior golf competitions were hosted by local golf complex the 3 Hammers, in Wolverhampton with the Telford boy winning the title.
Boys and girls as young as four travelled to the Midlands from across the country to take part.
Rory’s Mum Alison said “We’re over the moon with his success. The whole family is planning the trip to San Diego to support him in the final. It’s very exciting for us as well as Rory”.
Terry Jones, managing director of Terry Jones Solicitors, who sponsor Rory, said: “Rory is a very talented and charming little boy, we are delighted he has qualified for this highranking tournament and wish him every success.”
Rory has learnt the sport through the 3 Hammers Golf Academy and has progressed to the Gold level of their Young Masters golf programme. He’s a regular competitor in medal competitions and says “Golf is great, I get to hit lots of big shots”.
Andy Proudman, PGA Professional at 3 Hammers said “We’re all really proud of Rory – he has a gift for golf and it’s great to watch him progress.
“He’s a true local talent and we hope that he goes all the way.”
