A Telford toy company is planning to almost double its turnover thanks to advice and help from a scheme set up to help small businesses improve their IT systems.
Golden Bear Products in Hortonwood, which provides toys for Mothercare, Tesco, Hamleys, Sainsbury’s and Boots, is on target to increase its turnover from around £12m a year to £20m after receiving advice from Business Link West Midlands.
The company made improvements to its website and IT infrastructure with help from Technology at Work advisors, which has seen business boom.
Wendy Slater, Golden Bear’s finance director, said: “This is a fantastic time for Golden Bear as we continue to win new
business and build our customer base. Investment in IT will allow us to grow our business and, as a result of efficiency gains, expand our product lines.”
Alan Downton, enterprise and business solutions director at Business Link West Midlands, said: “Golden Bear was an ideal candidate for the Technology at Work programme – a successful local business with plans to expand but being held back by their IT systems.
“The company now has a robust IT strategy in place that’s closely aligned to the firm’s commercial objectives and long-term aspirations.”
