Dozens of vintage and classic cars and motorcycles will be parading through the streets of Wellington this weekend for the Lions Day on Wheels on Sunday.
The cavalcade will travel through the town to Bowring Park at 10am to start the event. The family fun day will include a host of stalls, games, food and music, as well as the chance to see the vintage vehicles up close and the PDSA Fun Dog Show, with a dog agility course, advice from a dog trainer and ten events for dogs to compete in.
Telford Lions have a clown, a stilt-walker, balloon shape maker, and workshop leaders to teach circus skills, and a fire engine on site, and the ever popular donkey rides.
This year will also see a ‘Your Community Matters’ marquee set up in the park with several stalls manned by a range of service providers, including the borough and parish councils, police, NHS, and fire and rescue service.
Lions president Bill Jones said: “This is the sixteenth consecutive year that Telford Lions have held this family-fun day, which is themed around classic cars and motorcycles, and features a fairground, stalls, entertainment, food and much more.
“We are delighted to be able to provide this event, a welcome day of fun for the whole family. As always, entry to the park is free and we aim to offer good low-cost entertainment and fun events as a way of thanking our local community for the wonderful support they give us through the year.”
Wellington mayor Councillor Graham Riley said: “Many of the stalls are representing local charities and groups. My thanks go to all who contribute to these in any way.
“Telford Lions have not only worked hard to plan and organise the event for local residents and families, but have also planned many activities throughout the last year for local causes and charities.”
Admission is free. The event closes at 4pm.
