A lucky Telford couple are celebrating after both were picked out at random as winners of Telford Shopping Centre’s late night shopping competition.
Carl Coombes and Nicola Harmer, who live in Telford, couldn’t believe their luck after receiving not one, but two calls with good news from centre bosses.
The first was to congratulate Nicola on winning the weekly prize of £100 worth of Debenhams store vouchers. Then, five minutes later the phone rang again this time to tell Carl that he had won the massive £1,000 trolley dash prize.
The double win came at just the right time for the couple, who plan to marry next year, and Carl spent the majority of his windfall buying items for the pair’s home and for their wedding day.
Tracy Hadley, marketing and events manager at the centre, said: “The chances of both Carl and Nicola being picked, at random, out of our hundreds of entries are really low, but being chosen at random by two different people is even more astonishing.
“We genuinely hadn’t realised there was a connection until Nicola picked up the phone and we recognised her voice from the previous phone call. What an extremely lucky couple. Congratulations both!”
