Education in the palm of their hands

sd3552888jul23-newdale.jpgPupils at Newdale Primary School, Telford, have education in the palm of their hands after being awarded a grant of more than £5,000 from Britannia, part of The Co-operative Financial Services (CFS).

The money, £5,048, has been donated by the financial mutual’s charitable Foundation and enables the school to access the latest technology to motivate and engage its pupils.

Adapting to multiple learning styles the school’s new iPod touch digital devices deliver education on the go and include a range of fun and challenging educational applications including; maths, english, geography, history and languages.

Rachel Cook, headteacher, said: “We are delighted with the support from Britannia and the children think it is fantastic!

“We continually strive to make a difference to our children’s lives to help them reach their full potential and, by using the latest technology, we can enhance our creative curriculum and offer stimulating and flexible approaches to equip them with vital key skills for their futures.”

Britannia’s charitable Foundation is one way the member-owned financial services provider gives back to the communities it serves.

Kate Johnson, manager of Britannia’s nearby Newport branch, added: “Britannia’s charitable Foundation can make real and lasting differences to local communities.

“We are delighted to have supported Newdale Primary School with this versatile teaching technology that makes education fun and puts information at their children’s fingertips.

“We would welcome applications to our charitable Foundation from any community group that shares our key priorities of promoting improvements to education, in particular numeracy and financial capability.”
